Sinder

Almost a year ago, my husband, Rob, and I adopted Sinder from Cat Guardians on February 1, 2015, in the midst of a raging snowstorm. She was 12 years old, black, and needed a pill twice a day for her thyroid condition. These were all strikes against her but we didn’t see it that way. Our diabetic cat, Sean, and our elder cat, Jet, had taught us the beauty and dignity of the aging as well as how being in service to a “special needs” animal makes a human being realize how fragile we all are. We knew time with Sinder was going to be limited but five or six years seemed possible. And when she became a part of our lives and revealed her zen, her magic, her serenity, her GOODNESS – we threw the concept of time out of the window. Until our time ran out. Sinder passed away on January 6, 2016 due to renal failure (unrelated to her thyroid condition). We thank Cat Guardians for safeguarding and loving her for us until we adopted her. They are doing important work! Sinder did important work. Adopt the elders, adopt the ones with special needs! They are divine beings. This is Sinder in the photograph that Cat Guardians took of her, the photo we fell in love with before we met the tiny black cat with a huge heart.
